Championing social enterprises in the West
April’s ‘Champion of the West’ in The Westsider community newspaper is local community leader and CEO of Inner West Community Enterprises (owner of Community Bank Seddon) and Chair of the Community Bike Hub Committee, Andy Moutray-Read. Andy’s been a proud Westie for 23 years, and is a passionate believer in the power of social enterprises:
I’d also like to see growth in the number of social enterprises — they can achieve so much. A whole lot of government contracts could be fulfilled by social enterprises. Andy Moutray-Read
He was instrumental in the establishment of Community Bank Seddon, which has distributed $2.6 million in funding to local groups and projects since 2009, and has been CEO of the Inner West Community Foundation (IWCF) since it was initiated in 2019 to provide services and funding to projects including The Westsider and Community Bike Hub. In 2023, IWCF rebranded as Local Impact.
